The Firms
local government law attorneys represent various types of
public sector clients, including municipalities, special
function districts, school boards, assessment districts,
and other public authorities. The Firm also represents clients
in the private sector in matters relating to or pending
before these units of local government.
The
services we provide to our local government clients include
counsel regarding enforcement of constitutional, statutory,
and home rule authority; preparation and enactment of municipal
ordinances and resolutions; negotiation and drafting of
interlocal governmental agreements; land development regulation
and litigation; establishment, regulation, and termination
of public rights of way; public improvement project construction
and litigation; contracting; code enforcement; bid protest
resolution and litigation; pension/retirement plan administration
and litigation; solid waste, utilities and other types of
franchising; municipal prosecutions and police advisory
services; property forfeiture litigation; defense of constitutional
and other claims; and public financing (including tax exempt
and taxable bond transactions, special assessments, grants
transactions and expenditure restrictions).
To
our private sector clients, we offer services in the areas
described above, as well as services in the areas of land
development, including land use, zoning (including applications
for rezonings, use variances, special exceptions, development
variances and conditional uses), platting, site planning,
and permitting; local taxation and special assessment disputes;
and defense of code and rule enforcement proceedings.
